About Ms. Britt
This was Henry. I lost him this summer. I can't quite delete him yet.
I am very excited to be teaching 3rd grade at GCE. The 2017-2018 year will be 14th year here in this building. I have taught both fifth and sixth grade so I feel very comfortable making sure my students are ready for the upcoming grades. I love my job and my students. I enjoy looking for fun ideas to help my students learn their way and talking to them about books.
I graduated college from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2003 where I studied Elementary Education. I went on to my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008. I actually started teaching swim lessons at 14 and continue to teach swimming today. It was this that made me realize what I wanted to do for a living; I love seeing kids learn new things and grow. I am still involved with the same swim program I participated in growing up.
I live in the Center Grove area where I grew up and have a dog and a cat. I have a cat named Ruby Jane. She is super sassy, yet shy. I adopted her at the Indy Mega event, an amazing animal adoption event where I volunteered. Last summer, I decided to foster a dog I saw online and I am what they call a "foster fail". Winston joined our family forever. After I helped him get healthy, I knew he couldn't leave our house.
In my free time, I spend time with my friends, read a ton, and watch way too much TV. I am kind of a TV expert. Ha! When my friends want to know something, they ask me. It makes us all giggle and gives them something to give me a hard time about.
I look forward to getting to know my students each year and watching them become better readers and math experts.I hope to instill my love of reading in them and help them to see all the things we can learn and places you can go (both real and imaginary) when reading a great book.
